Pink Blush Maternity

This is my last plus size maternity clothing blog post, considering I have already given birth to my son (there will be future posts regarding that). I took these pictures prior to giving birth but the last month has been so crazy that I didn’t get a chance to post this. I apologize for that, but if you’ve ever been in your last weeks of pregnancy and the first few weeks of taking care of a newborn, I’m sure you can understand.

Pink Blush carries straight sizes, plus sizes, straight size maternity, and plus size maternity. I’d say I’m sometimes on the higher end of a 3X, most definitely when it comes to dresses, and their size 3X fits me perfectly. They have great functional and trendy pieces regardless of your size.

This first dress is perfect for the winter weather. You could add a scarf, leggings or tights, and booties for a cute cool weather look. The floral is more of a fall/winter pattern because of the pretty burgundy background. It’s actually one of my favorite colors to wear right now. I did switch out the belt for one of my own because the belt that came with the dress was a little snug on me. But both belts are very similar in color. The fabric is soft and comfy. This dress would be a great staple in anyone’s closet!

I’ve already worn this hoodie a bunch of times because I love it so much! You can easily pair or with leggings or jeans for a casual look. The lace detail on top gives it a little interest while still allowing you the comfort of a hoodie. The length of this is really nice, even for post-pregnancy when you’re not back to your pre-pregnancy body. I love the blue color. I’d highly recommend this piece!

The last item is this long cardigan with sequin elbow patches. I’m a huge fan of adding some sparkle to an outfit. This is an unexpected way to throw some shine into your look. This cardigan gives serious winter comfort vibes while still being chic. This sweater is so comfortable and can be worn over a dress or with leggings/jeans and a tank top. Obviously, open front cardigans aren’t specific to maternity wear. So this is something you can wear pregnant or not. I really liked buying pieces while pregnant that I’d still be able to wear afterwards.

Maternity Photo Reveal!

I’m beyond overjoyed to be sharing these photos with all of you! About a month ago, I decided I wanted to take maternity pictures. I think partly because I wanted to remember this time of being pregnant and partly because I’ve come so far in accepting how my new pregnant body looks.

As a plus size woman, I found it difficult to be comfortable taking photos of myself. I believe that a large part of that insecurity is because we don’t see images of plus size pregnant women in the media or hear about them having healthy pregnancies. I feel that most of the time, being Plus Size and pregnant is expressed negatively or worse, not at all.

My goal since I was approximately 25 weeks pregnant, was to try to bring more visibility to plus size pregnancy. That was when I started taking “bump” pictures as often as I could. My journey through learning to love my body again has really given me a new sense of self. I hope that these pictures inspire others to do the same!

For this photo shoot, I’m wearing an absolutely gorgeous teal off-the-Shoulder jersey dress from Boutique By Agnes. She has an Etsy shop with beautiful gowns that can be customized to your color preference, style, and size. I’d highly recommend looking at her page to see the dresses she has to offer because they are amazing!

My photographer was incredible! Holden Moments really captured the nature vibe that I was looking for while being able to bring out my inner beauty. I’m so in love with these pictures and I know that my photographer, Grant, is responsible for how much I love them! If you’re in Central PA, check out his site!

Overall, my experience taking maternity photos was very special. I’d encourage everyone to take maternity photos so that you have the memory forever!

Horizontal Stripes? Yes Please!

I have heard that plus sized women shouldn’t wear horizontal stripes because it makes you look wider. False! I have honestly never found this to be true. In my experience, it can accentuate your curves in a good way!

This dress from JCPenney is a Fall staple! The main color is a beautiful burgundy with the stripe being a blush pink. These are two very popular colors for Fall. The 3/4 length sleeves will keep you warm in the Fall weather, but it would be easy to pair with a leather or jean jacket when it gets colder. The fit is great, especially considering it’s part of Arizon’s “Junior Plus” Line. Usually Jr Plus tends to run small, but I have not found that to be true at JCPenney. The material is very comfortable and easy to wear.

I paired this dress with a pair of black maternity leggings from Motherhood Maternity and black booties from ASOS.

A Dash of Sparkle

Maybe it’s because I’m into simplicity being 34 weeks pregnant, but this has to be one of my favorite looks I’ve put together this Fall. The top is a pretty blush pink cold shoulder sweater. It’s deceptively warm so don’t let the light color fool you. The cut is perfect for me. I got this in a size 3X from JCPenney on sale and I plan on wearing it well through the winter!

I paired the shirt with these cropped destructed jeans from Torrid. These are in a size 26 to accommodate my growing baby belly. I also purchased these during a clearance sale a couple months ago. They feature a four button closure, which seems to be working better for me through my pregnancy than zippers have been.

The shoes are breathtaking!!! I had been eyeing this pair from ASOS for about a month and finally decided to purchase them. They are a size 11W and fit pretty well even with my slightly swollen feet. I like that they slip on rather than tie. I’m a huge fan of sparkly things and I think it’s a way to add interest to a simple outfit, especially when it’s somewhere unexpected like on your feet!

Super Affordable Maternity Clothes!

I’ve been working so hard to find more affordable plus size maternity brands to review! It’s tough out there because if something is available in plus sizes, the clothes end up being super expensive, and if they’re affordable then the brand only goes up to a size Large. It has been a struggle for me because there are so few brands making plus size maternity clothing! If I was a fashion designer, I’d probably start with Plus Size Maternity because there’s a demand for it and very little available.

Luckily, I was able to collaborate with a great affordable brand, Great Expectations Maternity. Their line is available at WalMart, making it super accessible to the masses! The three tops they sent to me are only $15 each, making it probably the most affordable maternity brand I’ve come across! Their clothes go from a size small to a 2XL. While I wish they went up to larger sizes like 3XL or 4XL, their 2XL did fit me well. So I’d say they are pretty true to size since I was wearing 2X shirts prior to being pregnant.

I got the same style shirt in gray and a blush pink color with a fun pattern. Both of these feature a small keyhole on the neckline and a little tassel tie detail. They are made with an empire waist, which is very flattering for a pregnant woman. These tops will be perfect for Fall and early Winter because of the long sleeves. The fabric is very soft and comfortable.

The last shirt is going to be perfect for the Holiday season because of the bright red hue. The last detail on the shoulders is simple but gorgeous, making it more than just a plain boring shirt. There is some rouching along the sides, making sure there’s plenty of room for a pregnant belly. This is a great piece to wear for comfort while still looking stylish.

Pink Blush Review…PS. I’m Pregnant!

Hey everyone!  If you haven’t already seen my YouTube video or any of my social media, let me get you up to speed.  My husband and I were trying to conceive since October 2016 and it finally happened!  I found out in April that I was pregnant.  Right now I’m a little over 11 weeks pregnant.  If you’ve noticed that my posts have been very sporadic, that is why.  I’ve been dealing with a lot of nausea and exhaustion in the first trimester, which has made it very difficult to keep up with my blog and other social media.  But since I only have a few weeks left until my 2nd trimester, I am hoping I can get back on track.

What I love about being pregnant is getting the opportunity to explore a new side of the fashion world, plus size maternity clothes!  Thanks so much for Pink Blush for collaborating with me on this and sending me some maternity options to show you guys.  They carry non-maternity straight and plus sizes, as well as maternity straight and plus sizes.  So if you think one of these outfits is adorable, they may carry it in a size that will work for you!

Purple1

The first look is a floral short dress.  It has 3/4 length sleeves and is probably one of the softest fabrics I have ever felt.  I will say across the board that everything I got from Pink Blush was so soft and comfortable, making it really easy to wear.  I love the mix of the lilac and deeper purple color in one look.  I did pair this was leggings and black sandals to make it work-appropriate.  It would also look great without leggings and a cute pair of wedges.  There is a lot of room with my baby bump to grow in this dress, so I could see myself wearing this dress throughout most of my pregnancy.

Navy2

The second look is a navy maxi dress.  I love the versatility of this piece!  I could wear this easily throughout my entire pregnancy with just a statement necklace in the summer or throw on a jean jacket in the fall.  The navy color is perfect, in fact it’s one of my favorite colors.  The one thing you will need to watch out for is the length.  It touches the floor for me and I am about 5’7,” so if you are shorter than me, keep that in mind when ordering.  You may need to hem it or wait until you’re far along in pregnancy so that the hemline will be a little higher.  It is well made.  Although it’s a lighter material, it is not see through, which we all can appreciate!

Shirt1

The last item was a floral flowy shirt.  Flowy shirts are very on trend right now, so this will fit into my wardrobe perfectly.  I love how beautifully it hangs and I love the floral pattern.  It’s definitely a summer/spring pattern even though the background is black.  It would look great with a pair of cropped light wash jeans or with black leggings.  You can really dress this shirt up or down based on how you style it.  I think pieces like this that can be paired with a ton of different things are a huge staple for your wardrobe.

I hope you enjoyed my review of Pink Blush and think you should definitely check out their site!  Also, thanks so much for all the love and support since I’ve announced my pregnancy!  I appreciate it more than I can say!
