Horizontal Stripes? Yes Please!

I have heard that plus sized women shouldn’t wear horizontal stripes because it makes you look wider. False! I have honestly never found this to be true. In my experience, it can accentuate your curves in a good way!

This dress from JCPenney is a Fall staple! The main color is a beautiful burgundy with the stripe being a blush pink. These are two very popular colors for Fall. The 3/4 length sleeves will keep you warm in the Fall weather, but it would be easy to pair with a leather or jean jacket when it gets colder. The fit is great, especially considering it’s part of Arizon’s “Junior Plus” Line. Usually Jr Plus tends to run small, but I have not found that to be true at JCPenney. The material is very comfortable and easy to wear.

I paired this dress with a pair of black maternity leggings from Motherhood Maternity and black booties from ASOS.

A Dash of Sparkle

Maybe it’s because I’m into simplicity being 34 weeks pregnant, but this has to be one of my favorite looks I’ve put together this Fall. The top is a pretty blush pink cold shoulder sweater. It’s deceptively warm so don’t let the light color fool you. The cut is perfect for me. I got this in a size 3X from JCPenney on sale and I plan on wearing it well through the winter!

I paired the shirt with these cropped destructed jeans from Torrid. These are in a size 26 to accommodate my growing baby belly. I also purchased these during a clearance sale a couple months ago. They feature a four button closure, which seems to be working better for me through my pregnancy than zippers have been.

The shoes are breathtaking!!! I had been eyeing this pair from ASOS for about a month and finally decided to purchase them. They are a size 11W and fit pretty well even with my slightly swollen feet. I like that they slip on rather than tie. I’m a huge fan of sparkly things and I think it’s a way to add interest to a simple outfit, especially when it’s somewhere unexpected like on your feet!

It’s Finally Fall!

Cooler Fall weather is finally here and I could not be happier! Not only is it my favorite time of year but it means I can break out some cute cozy clothes. It’s also great, being almost 30 weeks pregnant, that I won’t be sweating in the summer heat anymore!

This look is early Fall perfection. This gray Rue 21 hoodie has beautiful rose embroidery on the hood. Embroidery and florals are still on trend going into the Fall. The sweatshirt is cropped and the neckline has an exaggerated overlap. I wore a plain white tank underneath just to give myself some extra length but you could definitely pair it with a pair of high waisted jeans. The clutch is also from Rue 21. It’s black with some simple silver studs, making it perfect to use with almost any outfit.

The capri distressed jeans and sandals are both from Torrid. I believe the jeans are Boyfriend cut, which fit me really well. I love that the distressing isn’t too overwhelming but still add to the overall style of the look. My only complaint is that the rolled cuff is not sewn, so when I wash these jeans I have to re-roll them before putting them on. But they are extremely comfortable and cute, so I can deal with it!

End of Summer Swimsuit Review

Obviously, it is the end of the summer, which means a few things:

1. You may be able to pick up some swimsuits for SUPER cheap and keep them for next year

2. This review will be helpful if you’re going on vacation to a warmer climate over the next six months or so

3. This information may be something to keep in mind when shopping next summer!

I’m doing this review now because I was finally able to wear all of the suits I got this year. I live in PA, so unless I’m on vacation or am visiting a friend with a pool, there aren’t many occasions to wear a swimsuit. We will go from cheapest to most expensive.

This was actually the first one I purchased this past year. It is a great one piece from Rue 21. The cut out in the front and the strappy open back give it more interest than a plain one piece. I usually am uncomfortable showing so much of my back. But there’s something about how the back is made that made me feel very secure in it. The top straps are adjustable, which I love because I don’t have a large chest. There is a little bit of padding in the chest, but that is removable if that’s not your cup of tea. The pattern on top is so pretty and goes great with the burgundy bottom. This suit definitely draws the eye upward, making it great for a pear or apple shape. I believe this one was around $30 and it is in a size 3X.

I must have been into one pieces this year because I fell in love with this one from Torrid. I love the pattern on the top and the pop of color. My only complaint about the fit is that I had to size up to a size 4 because of how restrictive their swimsuits are, so the chest is a little large on me. It’s not super noticeable, but I wish the cups were a tad bit smaller. The straps on this one are adjustable and convertible. So if you want cross cross straps, a halter, or straight front and back straps, you can make that happen. I happened to catch this one during a swim sale back in April. I got it for around $65. I was willing to pay a little more for it because the quality is amazing and I know it will last for years.

This black and white retro suit is the only two piece I purchased this year. It is also from Torrid and I got this one on sale as well. I believe I paid about $75 for this one. That is normally way more than I’d invest in a swimsuit, but when I tried it on in store, I knew I had to buy it. I did buy it prior to knowing I was pregnant, so it doesn’t fit quite as well as it did in store, but I made it work. The top has a built in bra, which makes you feel very secure. It has the same adjustable and convertible straps the one piece has. Since it is two pieces, I got a size 3 in the top and a size 4 on the bottom. The chest on this fits me better because I was able to get a smaller top. The material is slightly textures and it has an adorable scallop detail. I really love this one!

The last swimsuit was not purchased by me. I won it via an Instagram giveaway from Becca Etc Swim. It’s so gorgeous. I believe this one was around $130, which is crazy to me! But it’s an amazing one piece swimsuit. The color is one of my favorites and the lace is delicate but durable. I’m sure if you bought a cheaper lace suit, it would probably fall apart rather quickly. Their website does have cheaper options though, so make sure you don’t overlook this brand. This was in a size 3X.

I hope you guys enjoyed this post. I’ll link websites below and you can either see if they have any swim sales or tuck the info away for next year. Thanks for stopping by my blog!

Boardwalk Style

My husband, Stephen, and I are on vacation this week and I’ve been looking forward to it all summer! We tend to vacation in late August or September due to the cheaper rates and less crowds. I’m going to try to share as many new outfits with you as possible on this beach trip.

Tonight we took a trip to the boardwalk just to do some walking, which is good for my fellow pregnant ladies, to play mini golf, get some dinner, and then ice cream. This outfit was comfortable and stylish for an evening on the boardwalk. The Capri jeans and black sandals are both from Torrid. The black sandals were bought last year on clearance and still have a ton of wear left. The jeans are new. I bought them during a recent 50% off clearance sale. They’re more of a dark wash and have distressing in the thigh/knee area. I believe they are their skinny jean fit, which happens to fit my pregnant belly perfectly. Instead of a zipper, they have a four button closure, which in my opinion makes them more roomy and comfortable.

The shirt is from Forever 21. You may have seen it in a YouTube Inside the Dressing Room of mine from about a month or so ago. I’m in love with the mesh and Lace sleeves. It gives this otherwise casual shirt a little something extra. The rose graphic is a pretty blush color, which was perfect to pair with this clutch from Stitch Fix and my sunnies from Rue 21. Blush is still in style and I’m incorporating it more and more into my wardrobe.

The Kate Middington Skirt

I am so in love with this skirt from Society+. The cut would be gorgeous on a variety of different body types. The length is perfect. It hits about mid-calf on me and I’m about 5’7″. I love that the pleats give the skirt a little bit of volume without it being too overwhelming.

The quality is tremendous. There is a side zipper and pockets! The skirt comes in a variety of different colors, so you can pick the one that best fits your style.

I paired the skirt with a black bodysuit from JCPenney and black pointed toe flats from Lane Bryant. I love that this look has a slightly vintage feel with a modern flair of the criss cross bodysuit. It’s appropriate for the office but you could also dress it down with a chambray shirt or a crop top. This is definitely a versatile piece that would be a great addition to anyone’s closet.

A huge thank you to Society+ for sending me this piece to review on my blog for you guys!

1 Year of Blogging!

It has been exactly one year since I wrote my first blog post and I’m so happy to share this milestone with all of you. When I started my blog, I didn’t really have any sort of expectations. I just figured that I would give it a try and see how it went.

Now one year later, I’m so happy I have it a shot. I’ve become part of a great plus size bloggers network on Facebook, I’ve grown my Instagram to 2K followers, and my YouTube channel is nearing 1K subscribers. I never thought, in my wildest dreams, that anyone would read my blog of watch my videos besides family and friends. I had no idea it would grow into something bigger. Now, I have the honor of spreading the message of self love and how to be stylish at any size and budget. I’ve made some great friends via the internet and learned a lot about myself and set new goals for my future.

I just want to say thank you. Without all of you, my blog would not give me such joy and purpose. Thank you for all of your love and support and let’s make this go on for years to come!

Cute T!

Boohoo has become one of my favorite places to shop online. The almost always have a 40-50% off sale. The clothes are about the same quality of Forever21, but their sizing seems to be more consistent. It’s a great place especially for cute dresses and comfy T-shirts.

I never used to buy T-shirts because I didn’t think they could look good. I was 100% wrong. Boohoo’s T’s are always super soft and comfortable as well as being super adorable! I got this shirt for $8 and I’ve already worn it a bunch of times! Something to keep in mine is that they are a U.K. Based clothing brand so be sure to check the size chart before ordering.  I got this shirt in a US size 20/UK size 24.

I’ve gotten a ton of compliments on it! The lettering also survived the wash, which I know people get concerned about with cheaper clothes. I paired it with a pair of jean capris from Loralette and Nike flip flops. Overall this look is great for a relaxing comfy summer day.

Spring Vibes

Even though it’s kind of difficult dealing with weather that is windy and cold one day but warm the next, I am loving the nice days! It makes me excited for Spring and even more excited for Summer time!

This dress just screams Spring! The material is Rue 21’s soft buttery brushed fabric, which is light and so comfortable. I love the sleeve length on this, right to the elbow! The beautiful blue flowers are a perfect floral touch to anyone’s spring wardrobe! It’s simple but classic and only costs $18! I’m going to live in this dress this Spring!

I paired this dress with navy blue leggings from Torrid. I got them on sale for $15. They’re perfect to wear under a dress or long shirt. They are opaque and have a nice thick waistband. I also wore these white flats from Payless. I believe I bought these a few years ago but have really gotten my wear out of them. I hope this outfit gives you some spring vibes too!!

Curves Are Trending!

I saw this shirt at JCPenney and I knew I had to buy it! I had seen this shirt around blogs and Instagram a few months ago, but when I found out it was on sale for $8, I knew it would be a perfect addition to my wardrobe. Curves really are trending! I feel like the Body positivity movement and general acceptance of curvy bodies is really growing. It’s so encouraging to see!

The shirt is from Ashley Nell Tipton’s Boutique+ line for JCPenney. This shirt is a 1X. Her line tends to run a little on the larger side, which is nice because that means more of a wide variety of women can wear these clothes! Since the line launched I believe some time in 2016, there are a lot of pieces on sale right now, which is perfect for my fellow budget-conscious fashionistas!

I paired the shirt with this black pant from Maurice’s. I got them in a size 4 because the size chart seemed to run a little on the smaller side. They have a leather strip detail down the front of the pant, making them have a little bit of an edge. Plus they were on sale for $10! I thought they looked great with my black booties and the jacket from GS Love. I was also able to wear my new bracelet from Wristacuffs and my new gold rings, both courtesy of Curvy Gurl subscription Box!

I did wear a white strappy bralette underneath from Curvy Sense. This bralette is so comfortable and was only $7! I like that it peeks out of the top in a few of the pictures, giving a tshirt a slightly more interesting detail! This outfit would be perfect for a night out when you want to be comfortable and still make a statement!
